The Chinese Room reveals worldbuilding secrets for Still Wakes the Deep

Secrets of a mysterious oil rig have been revealed this week as our award-winning game development studio The Chinese Room has shared new details on its upcoming game, Still Wakes the Deep.
In the ‘An Introduction to Worldbuilding’ documentary, the developers explore the narrative behind the upcoming narrative horror game, published by Secret Mode, and the research driving development.
Lead Environment Artist Iain Gillespie, Associate Art Director Laura Dodds, and Lead Designer Rob McLachlan were on hand to offer a behind-the-scenes look into this highly anticipated title – discussing how the environment will evolve over time as well as the key inspirations behind the game’s horror.
In Still Wakes the Deep, gamers play as an off-shore oil rig worker, fighting for his life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. All that remains is to face the unknowable horror that’s come aboard.
The game is due to be released in 2024 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
